Schedule an appointment today for options counseling. You will be able to meet with us in a warm environment where we will confirm your pregnancy as well as how far along you are. With this information we can talk through the options available to you and come up with a plan that is right for you. Once a decision is made we can provide treatment or schedule you for surgery. Unplanned pregnancy can be a scary time. When you come to see us at Gynecology Institute of Chicago you are not alone and we understand that it is your body, your choice.
What is the treatment process like?
The consultation
At your initial visit, we will review any previous labs and scans that you provide. We will also discuss your wants and needs and review all of your options. If necessary, we will order more tests and decide together your best course of action. All this in a safe, non-judgemental atmosphere.
The procedure
You will be given two pills: mifepristone and misoprostol. The first pill will stop the cells from dividing. The second pill will empty the uterus.
The recovery
Depending on the procedure, recovery can be from 2-5 days. During the first day or two, it is best to rest at home to monitor your pain and bleeding. Make sure to take your prescribed pain medications. We may have you return to the office for a follow up ultrasound.
Is a medical abortion right for me?
Depends. We understand that the decision to end a pregnancy is not an easy one, so we here at The Gynecology Institute of Chicago will be there with you, every step of the way, no matter what you choose.
